Our rooms

From little Ladybirds to Butterflies ready to fly: each age group has its own rooms in our Victorian house and pre-school annex, and everyone shares three gardens and a big outdoor play space.

Ladybirds at Towneley Park
Lily the Ladybird
0–24 months

Ladybirds

Lily the Ladybird · Little beginnings

Three bright, airy rooms on the ground floor of the main house for our babies.

  • A main room that opens onto our own astroturf garden, a sensory and sleep room, and a messy play and meal room.
  • Before your baby starts, their key person spends settling-in sessions with you to learn your baby’s routine at home, so care feels the same at nursery.
  • A daily diary goes home with every baby, recording meals, nappy changes and sleeps, so you know how the day went even if you miss the key person at pick-up.

Caterpillars

Cody the Caterpillar · Busy explorers

Six rooms on the upper floor of the main house, each focused on an area of the EYFS.

  • Each room is set up for one area of learning, such as physical development, maths, literacy or understanding the world, giving children choice and freedom to free-flow between them.
  • Practitioners follow each child’s lead, join their play sensitively, encourage them to think things through and model the language for their next steps.
  • We support toilet training at each child’s pace, and encourage independence such as washing and drying their own hands.
Butterflies at Towneley Park
Bella the Butterfly
3–5 years

Butterflies

Bella the Butterfly · Ready to fly

Our pre-school, in its own Annex building with open access to the outdoors.

  • Four spaces: a main room, a meal and structured activity room, a computer room and a cosy sensory room.
  • Children learn through structured and child-led activities and continuous provision, building independence and a lasting enthusiasm for learning.
  • Our school readiness co-ordinator runs a programme that builds the skills children need before they start school.

Outdoor play

Sunny the Sunflower · Growing outdoors

Three garden areas, a large outdoor play space and regular outings in the local community.

  • Outdoor play builds confidence, independence and self-esteem, and lets children test limits and take on new challenges.
  • Children get muddy in the mud kitchen and plant and grow fruit, vegetables and sunflowers in our allotment.
  • Ladybirds have their own private astroturf garden for crawling and non-mobile babies.
